'Movies need Iran culture depiction'

Untapped local cultures in Iran need to be incorporated in the country’s movies, Iranian director Narges Abyar says in an interview with iFilm.

“Fortunately, our culture is yet to be dissolved in the global village, and thus we have to display our powerful local cultures in our movies,” Abyar, who directed ‘Track 143’ and ‘Breath’, said.

Referring to her movie ‘ Track 143’, the director said that the UK-based daily Guardian hailed the movie as the most feminine movie of Iran’s holy defense cinema.

‘Track 143’ narrates the story of a young man who has been dispatched to the front lines during Iran-Iraq war.

His mother, living a bitter life in his absence, is looking forward to getting any information about him.

Abyar's film received the Crystal Simorgh award for Audience Favorite Film at 2014 Fajr Film Festival while Iranian actress Merila Zarei won Best Actress Award at the event.
